With this presentation, Valia Vraka examines aspects of the life and work of Mikis Theodorakis through representative documents from his archive, such as manuscripts, letters, photographs, musical remains and audiovisual material.
It aims to highlight the multidimensional character of the composer and to show how his personal archive functions as a valuable vehicle of memory, offering decisive tools for the understanding and interpretation of his entire work.
Nikos Christodoulou presents his personal collaboration, as a composer and as an orchestra conductor, with Mikis Theodorakis in Greece and abroad.
They collaborated at the National Theater, as well as in the transcription for voice and piano (in the form of a classical song), commissioned by Theodorakis, of his songs to the poetry of Karyotakis.
They then collaborated as conductors, in Denmark, in concerts with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, and in Moscow, in an opera gala concert dedicated to Maria Callas, with the soloists and orchestra of the Bolshoi Opera.
He also refers to Theodorakis' symphonic work, as well as to his excellent theoretical studies at the Athens Conservatory and later at the Paris Conservatory.
At the same time, audiovisual material from both speakers is shown.
The Mixed Adult Choir of the Association performs songs by the great composer in works by the poets Iakovos Kambanellis (Mauthausen), Yannis Theodorakis (Lipotakhtes), Giorgos Drosinis (40 songs for children and children), Odysseas Elytis (To Axion Esti) and Giorgos Seferis (Strophi – Epiphany).
We would like to thank the Municipality of Argos - Mycenae and Mayor Ioannis Maltezos for their cooperation and support, the Mavrakis Distillery for its kind offer, the Health Sector Volunteers, who, together with the Nurse-Head of the Argos Regional Department of the Hellenic Society of Health, will be in the Hall to provide medical assistance, and the member of the Association and the Choir, Ms. Giola Chountala, who, together with the florist "Louloudotopos", will be responsible for decorating the stage.
We invite all friends to honor us with their presence in this effort for a more meaningful acquaintance with the great Greek composer.
