With a forward-looking focus on the future of maritime tourism, the 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) is preparing to welcome leading figures from the international yacht chartering community to Nafplio, along with hundreds of visitors from around the world, from May 2 to May 6.
The exhibition has now become a benchmark for Greek yachting on a global scale, firmly established as the largest event of its kind worldwide and the only one in Greece of this magnitude dedicated exclusively to the high-end segment of luxury yachting.
A key reference point for the global market
Once again, the port of Nafplio will host an impressive lineup of yachts with Greek professional licenses, bringing together hundreds of industry professionals from across the globe and offering a comprehensive overview of current trends and opportunities in the sector. At the same time, dozens of exhibitors will showcase products and services covering the entire spectrum of yachting.
The official opening of MEDYS will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, May 2, with an inauguration ceremony at the port, followed by a reception at the iconic Bourtzi Fortress. With the participation of remarkable yachts, prominent industry representatives, and a rich program of social events, the exhibition reaffirms its role as a key meeting point for the international luxury yachting community.
The President of the Greek Yachting Association, Mr. Ioannis Kourounis, stated: “Ten years after its launch, the Mediterranean Yacht Show has evolved into the largest exhibition of its kind worldwide, effectively promoting Greek yachting and strengthening the country’s position on the global tourism map. This year’s event, having already recorded a new participation record, aims to further enhance its institutional character through parallel activities with multi-level objectives and high value-added initiatives, ensuring it remains the annual meeting point for the most important stakeholders of the Greek and international yachting community, as well as a hub for the exchange of ideas and emerging trends in the sector.”
Marine parks and anchoring control at the heart of institutional dialogue
As part of this year’s MEDYS, a workshop on Marine Parks and Anchoring Control will be held under the auspices of the Ministries of Environment and Energy, Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, and Tourism.
At a critical juncture for the future of the industry, the workshop will focus on the need for an operationally viable framework that ensures marine protection without undermining the competitiveness of Greek yachting. It will also highlight the role that the Greek yachting sector is expected to play in shaping relevant policies.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, at 16:30 at the historic Vouleftiko Hall, attended by representatives of the Ministries, institutional bodies, and key stakeholders of the industry.
Chef’s Competition returns, highlighting culinary excellence at sea
Alongside the exhibition, the Chefs’ Competition remains a beloved institution celebrating culinary excellence on board. This year’s theme is the Greek tomato—the “queen” of Greek cuisine—which participants are invited to showcase through high-level creative approaches.
The prestige of the event is further enhanced by the participation of distinguished members of the judging panel, including Giorgos Papazacharias of Delta Restaurant—the only two-Michelin-star restaurant in Greece—and Michelin-starred Chef Luca Piscazzi from Pelagos restaurant at the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens.
The Mediterranean Yacht Show is co-organized by the Greek Yachting Association and the Municipality of Nafplio, under the auspices of the Ministries of Tourism and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, with the support of the Region of Peloponnese.
